It is a bulb consumed both raw and cooked for food purposes that contains a lachrymatory substance of acrid taste and smell, mainly formed by an organic compound that comprises sulphur: allyl propyl disulphide (57.2 mg. %). With their particular organoleptic value, one can eat them as a starter and / or as accompaniment to meat dishes. Roasted onions are particularly tasty and tempting thanks to their slight sweet and sour aftertaste. 100 g. of onions contain vitamins B1, B2, PP, and C. Minerals: potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sodium, iron, sulphur, zinc and copper.
